2008 Saw the Cubs start out on their hikes away staged badges.
Our very first hike was the good old Overton to Cornaless Bridge nature centre.
Second hike, same route in reverse.
Third hike saw us tackle Dunrod Hill. Rather than walk down we were just about blown down!
Fourth hike, bit more gentle. Starting point was Newark Castle, little history lesson then onto Finlastone Country Estate. After a bite to eat, they learned how to make shelters. Very impressed.
Fifth and last hike, before school holidays we were joined by a number of Scouts and parents and together we took on Bishops Seat in Dunoon. Tough going, but all made it to the top! Well done.
2009 Only managed two hikes due to inclement weather. Last year we had sunshine. However, first hike from Overton to Coranless Bridge was a success and again with three Cubs and four Scouts and one parent we took on Bishops Seat. Thankfully the weather held out in our favour.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Finally, we made it to the top. Bishops Seat - 504mtrs
A view from the top looking up the Clyde. And one looking down.
2nd October - 4th October 2009.
Six Cub Scouts took on the challenge of making it through the Super Heroes camp held over this weekend.
Mental, physical as well as agility tests were put to them. Their Super Hero senses were also put to test.
To complete their weekend task, they had to construct a Super Hero Automobile, then race it against other Super Heroes.
The "Gathering" The Meeting? In disguise!
The Senses test (liver) Mental (mind over matter) Physical
The construction Specialised paint job Finished article
The competition The race was on! We're going down, bail out!!
It's party time Audience participation is encouraged! Don't ask!
